Summary:
Independently conducts experiments, predominantly of basic immunology and molecular biology. Troubleshoots methodological and technical issues, interprets experimental data and literature, and communicates results to supervisor, department, or project team. Helps create a safe, effective, and efficient working environment.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to project advancement by developing new methods or technologies and troubleshooting
Executes experiments based on projects/protocols provided and works towards independently developing project
Experience with proper handling and care of mice, general surgical techniques and the collection of blood and tissue samples.
Develops and optimizes relevant disease mouse models and the subsequent analysis of associated disease-related pathologies by flow cytometry, histology and ELISA
Develops and executes cell based assays to screen candidate antibodies for various research programs
Performs ELiSAs and or MSDs to measure cytokine levels and determine antigen binding for various research programs
Performs Flow cytometry and analyzes data. Present analyzed data to supervisor.
Basic computer literacy and experience collecting and analyzing biological data on the computer is a necessity.
Contribute to lab and equipment maintenance and order supplies/reagents to help create a safe, effective and efficient working environment.
No direct supervisory responsibilities but may guide daily activities of summer interns, co-op and/or temps. Should be capable of training others in his/her area of technical expertise.
Experience and Required Skills:
Requirements:
Qualified applicants will have a PhD. in Biology, Immunology, or Cellular and Molecular Biology and at least 2-5 year of academic 1-2 years of industry post doc experience in immunology.
The ideal candidate will have experience with developing and optimizing mouse models of allergy and autoimmune diseases and the subsequent analysis of associated disease-related pathologies by flow cytomety, histology and ELISA.
Knowledge of Th2 mediated diseases or B-cell biology a plus
Must have experience conducting studies utilizing flow cytometry, such as functional cell based assays and ex vivo cellular analysis.
Must have experience using multicolor cytometry and the LSRFortessa machine.
Preferred experience developing and optimizing primary cell assays used to characterize cytokine pathways and screen antibody candidates is preferred.
Preferred experience with the following data analysis programs: GraphPad PRISM, Softmax Pro, FlowJo analysis, HALO, DIVA software,
Must have a record of publications in scientific literature.
